Fantastique – Rose et la maison du magicien de Holly Webb

J’ai reçu ce livre dans le cadre de l’opération Masse Critique de Babelio et les Editions Flammarion que je remercie tout deux.

Synopsis:

Rose quitte son orphelinat pour travailler au service du célèbre magicien, Mr Fountain. Une drôle de vie commence : formules, potions, mais surtout, une maison dans laquelle il se passe des choses étranges. Un jour Rose réalise qu’elle n’est pas une petite fille comme les autres et qu’elle aussi, maîtrise la magie… Alors, quand des orphelins disparaissent mystérieusement Rose n’hésite pas à se servir de ses pouvoirs.

Mon avis:

La couverture de ce livre m’attirait avec sa couleur rose flashy, complètement girly. La quatrième de couverture m’intriguait et en même temps, j’avais un peu peur que l’histoire se révèle un peu trop jeunesse à mon goût. J’ai décidé de le lire et de me lancer dans l’aventure avec une petite appréhension qui au final n’avait pas tellement lieu d’être…

L’intrigue du livre repose sur la découverte des pouvoirs de Rose, l’identité de Mr Fountain et sa drôle de maison et surtout, la disparition de nombreux orphelins. Le thème de la magie est omniprésent tout au long du récit et très bien présenté de manière à nous donner envie d’en savoir toujours un peu plus. L’originalité du livre réside dans l’héroïne qui est très jeune mais aussi dans les différents genre qui compose le livre. En effet, l’auteur écrit du fantastique auquel elle rajoute une enquête bien ficelé pour nous livrer une histoire intéressante et prenante.

Le personnages principale est Rose, une petite orpheline qui m’a impressionné par son courage et qui m’a attendri parce que comme toute les petites filles, elle est très curieuse et très attachante. Freddy est lui aussi un personnage principal et il est l’apprenti de Mr Fountain. Au premier abord, il m’a semblé hautain et prétentieux mais au final, j’ai pu découvrir un jeune garçon attachant et très courageux qui prête mains forte à Rose dans ses recherches. Autre personnage principal, Gus, est un chat qui m’a beaucoup fait sourire mais je vous laisse lire le livre pour le découvrir de vous même.

D’autres personnages gravitent autour d’eux comme par exemple le personnel de maison de Mr Fountain, sa fille Isabella, Bill et bien d’autre mais les trois principaux protagonistes sont les plus intéressants, attachants et ceux que l’action concerne le plus. Malgré tout, ces personnages secondaires ont leur place au coeur de l’histoire et leur importance comme par exemple, Bill qui va aider Rose et la guider ou encore Isabella qui va se joindre à nos personnages principaux dans la dernière partie du récit.

Le narrateur est l’auteur et elle nous livre ici son histoire en toute simplicité tout en y ajoutant une touche de magie. Le vocabulaire est simple et accessible au enfants comme aux adultes. La plume de l’auteur est très fluide et les pages se tournent très vite puisque j’ai lu ce livre en une après midi. J’avais peur de trouver une histoire trop jeunesse et pourtant j’ai été surprise de trouver des personnages relativement mature et une superbe histoire qui m’a fait passé de très bons moments. L’histoire est ponctué de rebondissements ou de moments magiques qui nous captive et nous tienne en haleine jusqu’au bout.

Pour conclure, j’ai passé un excellent moment de lecture avec ce roman plein de magie et ses personnages très attachants. J’ai vu qu’il y avait un second tome à cette saga et je compte bien la lire pour savoir ce que devient la petite Rose. Un premier tome que je recommande aussi bien aux enfants qu’au adultes qui se laisseront séduire à coups sûr par la petite Rose et sa magie.

Bit-lit – Night World Tome 1, Le secret du vampire de L.J. Smith

Synopsis:

La maladie de Poppy est incurable: elle se prépare au pire. Jusqu’à ce que James, le plus beau garçon du lycée qu’elle aime en secret, lui donne un baiser vertigineux qui lui ouvre son âme. Elle apprend ainsi qu’il partage ses sentiments et fait partie du Night World. Bravant les interdits de son monde, James propose à Poppy de le suivre jusqu’à la mort et même au-delà. Mais il lui faudrait pour cela devenir un vampire…

Mon avis:

Je suis fan de L.J. Smith depuis un bon bout de temps maintenant et j’ai commencer à suivre cette saga à partir du tome 4. Aussi, j’avais hâte de lire ce premier tome sorti en format poche pour découvrir comment elle avait commencé. La couverture est comme toutes les autres, vraiment superbe et attrayante. Le livre en tant qu’objet est magnifique avec une couverture souple et solide à la fois et j’aime ce format tout autant que le grand.

L’intrigue de ce livre repose sur la maladie incurable de Poppy et sur la véritable nature de James. Les thèmes de la maladie, de la mort et du surnaturel sont vraiment intéressant et bien détaillé. L’originalité de l’histoire se trouve surtout dans la maladie de Poppy puisqu’en générale ce thème n’est pas abordé dans les livres de bit-lit, du moins pas dans ceux que j’ai pu lire pour le moment.

Les personnage principaux sont Poppy et James qui m’ont beaucoup attendri et dont je me suis prise d’affection tout au long du récit. Poppy est une jeune fille lucide, courageuse et j’ai beaucoup aimé son caractère parce qu’elle n’est pas de celles qui se lamentent sur leurs sorts alors que les circonstances aurait pourtant pu s’y prêter. James est quand à lui un jeune homme mystérieux et charmeur que j’ai beaucoup aimé découvrir, il parait dur et cynique alors que derrière cette carapace se cache un jeune homme torturé, doux et aimant. J’ai ressenti beaucoup de tendresse pour eux et j’ai vraiment apprécié leur évolution tout au long de l’histoire.

Les personnages secondaires sont Phil et Ash. Phil est le frère de Poppy et il m’a beaucoup attendrie. J’ai aimé son côté protecteur envers sa soeur et sa façon d’affronter les évènements difficiles. Je l’ai trouvé très courageux et il a su garder la tête froide pour épauler sa soeur dans les épreuves qu’elle a du traverser. Ash quand à lui est le cousin de James et je dois avouer que je ne l’ai pas aimé du tout dès le départ. Je l’ai senti faux et malintentionné en plus d’être prétentieux et vicieux.

Le narrateur est l’auteur et j’aime toujours autant sa façon de nous raconter ses histoires. Le vocabulaire est simple et compréhensible très facilement. Le style de l’auteur est comme toujours fluide et très agréable et le livre se lit vraiment très vite. J’ai beaucoup aimé cette histoire même si parfois certaines choses me paraissait trop simple ou trop rapide, j’ai passé comme toujours un excellent moment de lecture. Le récit est intéressant et l’action est présente tout au long du livre, je n’ai pas eu la sensations de temps morts ni de descriptions inutiles. L.J. Smith a une fois de plus su me tenir en haleine jusqu’au bout et à me livrer une histoire prenante et intéressante à la fois.

Une lecture fluide et agréable comme toujours. J’ai passé un excellent moment de lecture et je recommande vivement cette saga qui, à chaque tome devient encore meilleure que les précédents.

Fantasy – La couleur de l’âme des anges de Sophie Audouin Mamikonian

Synopsis:

Laissez vous portez par les ailes du désir… Sauvagement assassiné à 23 ans, Jeremy devient un ange…et réalise avec effroi que l’on peut mourir aussi dans l’au-delà. Pour ne pas disparaître, en effet, tout ange doit se nourrir des sentiments humains et même… les provoquer! Invisible et immateriel, Jeremy décide d’enquêter sur sa mort et tombe rapidement amoureux de la ravissante Allison, une vivante de 20 ans, témoin de son meurtre. Or l’assassin de Jeremy traque la jeune fille… Jeremy parviendra-t-il à sauver Allison? Sera-t-il capable de sacrifier ses sentiments et de vivre à jamais séparé d’elle?

Mon avis:

Je suis l’auteur depuis un petit moment maintenant et j’ai été ravie de voir son nouveau livre. En grande fan d’anges, il m’était évidemment impossible de passer à côté de celui-ci et j’avais hâte de le lire. L’objet en lui-même est déjà magnifique, très coloré et représentatif de son histoire. Je ressort à l’instant de cette lecture et je suis totalement conquise!

L’intrigue du livre repose sur la raison de l’assassinat de Jeremy puisqu’il ne comprend ni pourquoi ni par qui il a été tué. Les thèmes de la mort, de l’au-delà, des assassinats et des sentiments sont ici mélangé entre eux à la perfection et donne au livre plusieurs genres différents tels que les thrillers ou la fantasy. L’originalité du récit se trouve dans la mythologie très bien développé que nous raconte l’auteur mais aussi à ce mélange des genres littéraires qui donne un résultat à la hauteur de mes attentes et qui m’a totalement séduite.

Les personnages principaux sont Jeremy et Allison. Ce sont deux personnages qui m’ont beaucoup émue et auxquels je me suis très vite attaché. Je me suis prise d’affection pour Jeremy qui est quelqu’un de vraiment bien et de bon. Son côté angélique m’a beaucoup plu et j’ai aimé sa persévérance et sa combativité pour arriver à ses fins. Allison m’a beaucoup plu également parce que derrière une façade de femme fragile, c’est une femme forte et pleine de courage que j’ai admiré quand elle continuait là où moi, j’aurai abandonné depuis longtemps. J’ai beaucoup aimé l’évolution de ces deux personnages qui, au fil des pages, vont se trouver grandi et plus fort grâce à leurs expérience.

Deux personnages secondaires sont très important dans l’histoire et il s’agit de Flint et Lili qui sont deux anges anciens. J’ai d’abord détesté Lili que je trouvais vraiment garce et aguicheuse mais au final, je me suis rendue compte qu’elle n’était pas si mauvaise que cela. Flint m’a beaucoup plu dès le départ et puis, petit à petit, je l’ai trouvé de plus en plus détestable avec ses sous entendu vicieux, ses coups bas et sa malhonnêteté il m’a vraiment agacé. Beaucoup d’autres personnages gravitent autour d’eux mais ce sont là les plus importants.

Le narrateur est l’auteur et le récit se déroule à New York de nos jours. J’ai adoré les différentes références aux grand génies tels que Einstein ou encore Galilée et Léonard de Vinci. De grand président sont également cité ainsi qu’un grand personnage mafieux mais je vous laisse le découvrir par vous même quand vous lirez le livre. Le vocabulaire est à la fois riche et accessible à tous. La plume de l’auteur est très fluide et très agréable à lire. J’ai aimé sa façon de nous raconter son histoire avec sa petite pointe d’humour. Il y a énormément de rebondissements et d’action, ce qui fait que je ne me suis pas ennuyé une seule seconde. J’ai suivi avec bonheur les différentes quêtes de nos héros et ressenti une multitude d’émotion, ce qui m’a vraiment plus surtout que le livre en parle énormément. Il m’a été très difficile de poser le livre pour faire autre chose puisque j’avais très envie de lire la suite et je me suis régalé à le lire! Sophie Audouin Mamikonian a trouvé le petit truc en plus qui m’a tenu en haleine tout au long du livre et qui en fait un magnifique coup de coeur.

Pour conclure, je recommande vivement ce livre à la fois bien écrit, passionnant et prenant. Je le conseille à tout les fans de l’auteur mais aussi à ceux qui veulent découvrir sa magnifique plume avec une histoire passionnante et prenante. Quand à moi j’ai vraiment très hâte de lire la suite!!
